The OW1-92 is a 20mm (3/4") soft dome tweeter offering a superb flat frequency response with great analytic and revealing capabilities.
Beautifully neutral, relaxing and non-fatiguing sound.. this is a very musical dome tweeter. Displaying an extremely broad banded response, the OW1 has been used in a great number of high-end 2-way loudspeaker designs. The OW1 is also a perfect choice for 3-way (or more) custom built designs of the highest quality. Although primarily designed for top end domestic loudspeakers, the OW1 has gained the reputation of being a benchmark product for studio monitors and bespoke car audio. This beautiful, fastidiously produced unit displays a very neutral and low distortion response curve with superb frequency linearity - VERY flat from 2 – 20 kHz +/- 1 dB (+/- 0.5 dB typical) - an exceptional result.
Phase linearity is also excellent and the rolloff towards the upper design limit is very smooth. Multiple rear chambers yield a low and well damped resonant frequency of just 850 Hz. The frequency response climbs softly to 2 kHz then is linear to 20 kHz.Very broad-banded (1.0 kHz to 25 kHz nominal –3 dB or better).
Unique heavy duty 2.5mm solder bucket connectors - a soldering guide can be found here: Hiquphon connection guide
Supplied as matched pairs to within an incredible 0.5 dB (individual graphs included), each pair is thoroughly tested before being signed off by Oskar Wrønding, the founder of Hiquphon.

I have received and installed the Hiquphon OW1-92 in to my Linn Kans. The upgrade in sound quality is astonishing. The definition and clarity of the higher frequencies have transformed the overall performance and soundstage to a whole new level of quality. A very good value purchase. I definitely recommend to others.
Thanks for the review - enjoy the tweeters !

These tweeters are worth the investment in my original 2000 purchased ELA mk2s. To remove the original ELA tweeter simply use a Swiss Army knife's corkscrew to lever the tweeter at its drilled fixing holes. Having broken the bitumen sealant's seal , which will probably have dried out, use a small diameter Allen key to lever the original tweeter out of the enclosure. Having packed the space behind each tweeter with extra wool damping, and applied the adhesive sealant strip to the enclosure's inner edge, as helpfully supplied by Will., I followed the excellent Hiquphon soldering tutorial to solder the new tweeter and then bolted each in place, This has totally revived my ELAs . I also removed the each speakers quarter-wave ports' perished damping and re-filled a third of each port with solid packing foam and the remainder with loose wool. The result is a hugely improved bass response. Thank you Will for your excellent service as this is an improvement to an ELA that is easy to recommend - a no brainer in my opinion!

I have had my Linn Kan speakers since they were new. One of the tweeters stopped working and these appeared to be the best replacement for the D20-LP-1 that the Kan speakers were fitted with.
The new OW1 tweeters are a perfect fit and easy to install. The fitting kit that was supplied had every thing needed other than tools. The age of the glue holding the fabric covers on probably helped as the covers came off without much effort and no damage.
Very pleased with the results, Linn Kans sounding better than ever.
Excellent service from Willys Hifi. Thanks!

Firstly, the service received was excellent. Couple of emails with Willy re. OW1 or OW2. They arrived next day.
I was replacing the Scanspeak tweets and was sceptical regarding possibility of much improverment. Improvement there is in 2 main areas: 1.Rhythm 2. Surprisingly bass lines are clearer and easier to follow. Id read about this some time ago, and was sceptical. But it seems to be true.
Given the "relatively" modest cost, compared with other components in the system, a very worthwhile upgrade.

I installed the Hiquphon OW1-92 Tweeter on my Linn AV5140. The sound is now just magic. I enjoy the music everyday more and more. They can fitted with minimal effort and even you have not used a soldering iron for years.
Thank you at Willy Hi-Fi for your advise and excellent service plus your manuell on web site. This was a great help too.
Thanks for the review !

The foam grill covers of my Mission 770s crumbled into dust many years ago. Only recently was I able to find what I thought would be a suitable replacement. Everything about the process went smoothly. The foam cut easily, looks good and, to my ears , is audibly transparent.
Has fixed the slight grainy sound on my old Mission 771s. The tweeter had a stain on the back suggesting the fluid had escaped. Make sure you release(unsolder) the coil wires before splitting the tweeter. Audax have replacement tweeters TM025C1 albeit 8 ohm which is another way to go.
Couldn’t be happier, more detail, more clarity. Vocals massively improved and less harsh sounding. Thanks Willys hifi.
Very flexible and easy to work with cable. Made up 6.5m cables shielded with some faraday tape and added PET cable sleeving outer and terminations of ChordOhmic bananas . After about 25hr ‘burn in’ compared with my NAC A5. IMO a better sounding cable, definitely better soundstage.
1990 Linn Index II LS120 Crossover and wiring upgrade.
Truly Outstanding performance upgrade flying in the face of conventional wisdom.
The resistor value is increased from 2.2 to 2.7 and is an official Linn Service 'performance' upgrade.

Carded lambswool replacing original poly wadding. Increased weight replacing 132g ea. for 215g ea. This was weighed out in stages and determined by sonic performance.
Small amount approx 15cm sq of Bitumen foam panel placed in two pieces in base of cab. (leftovers from another project.)
Jantzen solid core speaker cable AWG 17/ 1.15mm stripped of PVC outer sheath to leave only high performance PE insulation. Doubled and twisted Star-Quad. 2.3mm
x2 400mm lengths ea.
Replace binding post steel nuts and locking nuts on back of PCB with copper nuts x8 and locktight. (steel nuts in signal path???= Nuts)
Remove all Plastic front panels and rubber securing bungs. Seal air holes in front baffle sockets. (Holes!)
Total cost £190.00.
Worth every penny! The cost of replicating this level of performance will be many, MANY times this amount. This understanding determined my budget. Happy to spend £200 upgrading on a gamble for the knowledge and experience. The results are very serious for this money.
I purchased these new in 1990 and paid £220.00. They were never highly regarded but always delivered a satisfying sound I never bored of even though Bass is not a strong point in this sealed design. Proximity to rear wall is everything here.
No previous experience with crossover upgrades. Never built a PCB. Very limited knowledge of electronics A beginner !
Every sonic element is vastly improved. Detail everywhere, Soundstage opened up. Depth, Clarity, Definition, Truly remarkable the level of performance these 'nothing special' loudspeakers are now delivering. They are being driven by Oppo 105 upgraded, John Sampson upgraded Musical Fidelity A1. All solid core power/interconnect/speaker cables.
This project was only completed 'confidently' with the kind, generous help and insights from Willys HIFI who supplied all the excellent Mundorf components.
Cannot thank Will enough for his patience and knowledge. My lack of knowledge and understanding was never a barrier to success only because Will was so helpful, enthusiastic and interested in my enquiries. Will cautioned against my extravagant choice of caps. The results could not be predicted and so a more responsible and cost efficient choice was Will's sagely recommendation. Trustworthy, Knowledgeable and Approachable. How refreshing. My choice was a gamble to push the limits and the budget, the results are beyond my hopes and expectations.
Highly commendable service and support. Outstanding in the Audio/HiFi marketplace.
Thank you Will.
John.
