Mission 753 Crossover Rebuilds.
We now offer a crossover rebuild service for the ever popular Mission 753 floorstanding loudspeaker.
Rather than using specific crossover capacitors, the 753 featured standard aluminium electrolytics wired in series to form non-polarised electrolytics- this far from ideal cost / space saving excercise was part of the price to performance balance, and to be fair worked reasonably well but is now a prime candidate for upgrade. Another potential problem with the 753 is the very high tweeter failure rate and subsequent crossover damage:
The 753 often turns up on auction sites with dead tweeters - running these speakers with open circuit tweeters for extended periods of time causes the tweeter bypass inductors to heat up and melt; we supply a kit of components to cure this issue:
