Great replacement driver for Alesis M1 Active Mk2

Bought a pair of these to replace the failing drivers in my 20 year old Alesis M1 Active Mk2s. They are physically a near perfect match for the cabinets and are a good match electrically for the amplifier, but sound better than the original drivers. The only slight complication is the original drivers use one 2.8mm and one 4.8mm spade terminal, so you need to change one of the connectors. These have given my old monitors (now my 'kitchen speakers') a whole new lease of life. Next step is to replace the rubber surrounds with a grille.

There is a detailed review of these drivers over on youtube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NCb-rzCSK2s

Great service from Willys. They were dispatched straight away and arrived next day, very well packed.

Thanks for the review Malcolm !

Great results on a tired pair of Keilidhs

Surprised that there was no review of these drivers so I thought I’d do one. Upgraded my 30 year old mk1 Keilidhs with the Monacors. Really easy to do if you’re handy with a soldering iron. After 50-100hrs of use they are now really settled in and on song. Same old Keilidh sound with just more of everything. After doing the tweeters a few months ago it’s feels like I’ve bought a brand new pair of Keilidhs for a fraction of the cost of modern equivalents. Well worth doing if you want to keep your Keilidhs. If you want to keep the original anti diffraction rings, the plastic rings attached to the Monacors will need to be very carefully removed. I found this easy for three of them as they were secured with rubber type adhesive which came away without pulling the rubber skirt of the cone, but the forth was secured using a stronger black type sealant which pulled at the skirt in two small places. This was easily secured and sealed so no problem just something to be aware of. The drivers look ok with the plastic rings but I thought aesthetically better with the originals.

Thankyou for your review Paul !
