I've been repairing a set of vintage speakers (Rogers JR149's) and honestly, I wouldn't have been able to do it without components and parts from Willy's Hi-fi! Thanks for the help and advice as well!
Quick shipping and high quality cloth. Very easy to work with and sticks well with contact adhesive. Very pleased with the final look!
Thanks to Will for advising on a replacement for these classic Arcam speakers from the early 90s. Good value and quick shipping. This was a small restoration project on this sealed box design - these now sound punchy, crisp and clear and really fill the room. Tweeters seem to still be breaking in as the detail and imaging just keeps getting better! Looking forward to coming back for parts for the next project!
I needed to renew the foam fabric around my JR149 loudspeakers. Age and UV light had caused them to start disintegrating - not helped when one of our cats decided to assist with her own paws!!
Googled and up came Willy's details. I confirmed that I needed two of the "large" sheets and paid by Paypal. Order promptly dispatched and JR149s cosmetically restored!
As always, items arrived nicely packed and promptly.
I purchased these as substitutes for another driver that was used in a transmission line design. The old drivers had way too high a Q and sounded a bit boomy.
I chose these mainly because the diameter was exactly the same as the original drivers, meaning no cabinet reworking :)
They behaved very well in the transmission line cabinet and don't exhibit any peaks or nulls in the response. Very easy to work with and the 2nd order crossover couldn't be much simpler, crossed at around 2.4K which was mainly determined by the DT105 tweeter I was using, the drivers blend really well together.
Overall these are a very good sounding driver with a natural and neutral sound.
For those interested, I have included pictures of the speaker, crossover and measurements.
Tip: Run these drivers in before measuring and designing the crossover!
