I replaced my midrange drivers in my IMF Studio TLS 50 Mk1 speakers that are 50 years old at present with these drivers. I am the original owner of these and I have to say after installing these drivers in both of the speakers I just love the results. I couldn’t be happier. They have brought my speakers back to life!

A while ago I revamped a pair of IMF Super Compact 2. The surrounds of the original ELAC mids were cracked and hardened (due to aging of the foam) which is typical for these old mids. I decided to look for a replacement and bought two of these Monacors. In my opinion the Monacor has a more detailled sound but its sensitivity is higher and you here it when it's not compensated for. Simply said; 'the mids are to loud'. It's specified at 89 dB/1W/1m and the average sensitivity of the old ELAC must be about 86 dB/1W/1m. So this issue had to be adressed. Measuring a speaker with the ELAC replaced by the Monacor using a standardized set-up (sw and pro measurement microphone) showed a higher average sensitivity of about 3,5 dB compared to the bass and high frequencies. So an L-pad has been used to attenuate the mids 'loudness'. Now this has been done, the result is great.
Kind regards,
Martin
